Dear spectators, friends of Odeon Theatre, 2024 promises to be an artistically challenging year and we hope to have you next to us.
The projects for this season were announced on Tuesday, 16th of January 2024, by the General Manager, Mr. Emil Banea, in a meeting with our team of actors:
- In premiere, the director Silviu Purcărete will hold a workshop with our actors and, afterwards, will stage a show at the Majestic Hall. The title will be subsequently announced.
- In the year of commemorating the 30th anniversary from the death of the playwright, prose writer, essayist and literary critic Eugène Ionesco, the director Felix Alexa will stage the show “Jacques or submission” in Majestic Hall, stage desiger Adrian Damian, costumes by Maria Miu.
- Choreographer, director and dancer Răzvan Mazilu will adapt a cult novel of Spanish-American literature, “Kiss of the Spider-Woman” by Manuel Puig, in a show that will be performed in Studio Hall.
In addition to the meeting with the actors, in the same day, the general director of Odeon Theatre, Mr. Emil Banea, was Ralucă Rădulescu’s guest at Radio Romania Cultural, Scena și Ecranul (Stage and Screen) show: “For two and a half years I was deputy director, named by Mrs. Dorina Lazăr. I came from the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale”. On 1st of December 2023, Odeon Theatre received a decision by which I was appointed by the Mayor of Bucharest, Mr. Nicușor Dan, but not as interim, but general director, until a contest is organised. I, but also the whole staff, especially the actors of Odeon Theatre, translated it as a gesture of trust from the behalf of the Mayor, so we can work together as a team, until a contest is organised. […] And this month, I talked with Mr. Silviu Purcărete, who will come at Odeon Theatre in order to lead a workshop with the team of actors. We hope that by the end of this season we will have the premiere of a show, which Mr. Purcărete will stage.”
